If you really wish to study the meaning s of Bible names.
May I suggest you down load "e-Sword" (the Sword of the LORD with and electronic edge) this is a free computer Bible from http://www.e-sword.net/downloads.html
This basic installation includes the King James Version, King James Version w/ Strong's numbers, Strong's dictionary, and the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge cross-references.
Having installed this then down load "Hitchcock's Bible Names" ( it is also free) it provides an alphabetical list of names and gives there meanings.
.Where can I find Bible verses to go with name meanings?
Try a concordance.
Here's some examples:
Eve:
Genesis 3:20 20 Adam named his wife Eve, because she would become the mother of all the living.
Genesis 17:5 5 No longer will you be called Abram; your name will be Abraham, for I have made you a father of many nations. (footnotes: Abram means "exalted Father" Abraham means "Father of many")
Genesis 17:19 19 Then God said, "Yes, but your wife Sarah will bear you a son, and you will call him Isaac. (again the footnotes tell you Isaac means "he laughs"
Just look up in any commentary any name you're interested in and check the footnotes in any decent bible.
Or you could just look up the names on a website, like this one:
http://www.ballina.net/babynames/
Genesis 25
19 露 And these [are] the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:
Isaac = "he laughs" or laughter
25 And the first came out red, all over like an hairy garment; and they called his name Esau. Strong's Bible Concordance: Esau = "hairy"
Genesis 25
12 露
Now these [are] the generations of Ishmael, Abraham's son, whom Hagar the Egyptian, Sarah's handmaid, bare unto Abraham: Ishmael = "God will hear"
There are lots of them and if you have a Bible with marginal references it often tells you otherwise you can either go online at a website like the Blue Letter Bible where you can look up the Strong's Bible Concordance or look at a paper edition. There are books published on the names of people in the Bible.Where can I find Bible verses to go with name meanings?
Hmmm, your post is a bit vague. But names in scripture actually described people.
How about this:
Gen 32:28 And he said, Thy name shall be called no more Jacob, but Israel: for as a prince hast thou power with God and with men, and hast prevailed.
Jacob = supplanter or deceiver
Israel = God prevails
God changed Jacob's basic nature from a deciever to a fighter. So he also changed his name to reflect that.Where can I find Bible verses to go with name meanings?
any name that you have, that have the letters .EL. means an association with god .
