Korn got their name from an inside joke. They were at a party and were talking to a couple gay guys and one of them were talking about a time when he was tossing a guys salad.. and while he was tossing, he "ate" some corn.... f'ing gross! So the guys in Korn thought this was funny as hell obviously, and named their band "Korn."

The guys from Heavy Heavy Low Low were at an As I Lay Dying concert. One of the guys said, "This band is heavy heavy low low!" So they used it for their band.
When Metallica put out Kill Em All they originally wanted to call it Metal Up Your @ss but their label would'nt let them so Cliff Burton got all pissed and was said "F*ck em,kill em all" and there it is
They were called Thunderf*ck and their freind had a list of possible names for a metal magazine he was going to start and Metallica was one of them so they asked if they could jut borrow it,they didnt plan on becoming what they are because I dont think that friend is getting the name back

My Chemical Romance's, Mikey Way, was working at barnes and noble, and was talking to a buddy about Irvine Welsh novels one of them was "3 tales of chemical romance" and he was shocked to see that no one had used the term "chemical romance" in a band name before. He added my to give it a little twist.
Pencey Prep (Frank Iero of My Chem's old band) came from the name of the fourth school that holden caulfield got kicked out of in the book catcher in the rye.
Veruca Salt comes from the name of the overly spoiled girl in Roald Dahl's book Charle and the chocolate factory.
Mikey from my chemical romance found a book called three tales of a chemical romance whilst he was a student at university and he thought the name was cool, he had never read the book though lol. Mcr was originally called Chemical romance but then they changed it to My chemical Romance to add abit of meaning to it :)
