Do you belive in Name meanings??

Yes...

I believe that a name influences the person someone will be when they are an adult and interacting with the world. And the meaning of the name will also come into play, as well as the connotation, or implied meaning...

When you hear a name, but have not seen the person bearing that name, your brain automatically presents a vague picture of what that person might look like and what that person's personality will be.

I have had this dicussion with many people... you should try it out... for example, ask a friend what image comes to mind when they hear that a woman is named "Bertha"... then ask them what they think of when they here the name "Bambi" or "Candy".

Also, lets say you are of European Christian decent and you name you son Hussain. When people read that name, if they haven't seen your son, many will automatically assume that your son is of Middle Eastern origin and is Muslim.

Names do make a difference, even to employers... A top level office executive wants to hire a Marketing Manager to meet with important clients. He has two resumes on his desk, both are of equal everything- education, experience, job qualification, etc. However, the names on the application are very different... one is named Apple, the other is named Victoria. Which person do you think the executive is going to hire?

Something to think about...

:)

T.Do you belive in Name meanings??
Na. Ya hafta know in advance and, how could you? It's stupid.
the greatest of them all was: JESUS: THE CHRISTDo you belive in Name meanings??
Yes, I am defiantly a bright, shining person.Do you belive in Name meanings??
yes
well my name is orla and it means golden princess in irish!!!!!!! so yay for me im a princess
No not really. I think it's the person that makes the name not the name that makes the person.
no not really
Not really.
yes
no-most people named "cameron" dont have a crooked nose-but that is the gaelic meaning of the name !
I believe that names do have certain meanings. I have a friend, PHD that lives in Serbia and he can tell you what all names mean and where they come from in their original content.

I believe also that if a parent names their child a Loser, or something ridicules that the child will do either of two things, become that loser and live down to the name, or try for his life to live above that name and do so.

Names are wonderful gifts and even though our parents or someone gave them to us, they certainly seem to fit us after a while. For instance, all the Angela's I know, are somewhat angel like and extremely feeling people. All the Richards I know are abit harsh and uppity. All the Sarah's are indeed thoughtful and tender. And on and on.

I am a Geri, guess my type. Cya..
If the name translates to something in another language then you can't argue with the meaning. However,I don't believe the meanings actually apply to people. For example the name Leah translates to "weary cow" in Hebrew but that doesn't mean anyone named that is actually a cow; and they might not even be tired Ha ha.
My name means Morning Light.... can you guess what my name is???

People say it fits me.
The name of every angel has/translates into a meaning. My name is that of the angel who taught conjurors and root cutters their art against God's will. There's more to it, but I won't complicate my answer and confuse you by elaborating...

Every name has a meaning; my actual name has a meaning as well; in fact, most names derived from a word of another language that meant something.
My name suits me... it means "a cascade" or "waterfall"
My last name means something along the lines of "Great Warrior"...that migh explain my strange fascination with swords...
I do believe in name meanings. I read mine and I was like " That's the truth". It was somewhat scary.
no.....'cause my name have no meaning at all.................but they say it's nice..............what do you think????.............i can't find a meaning for my name.............
