What name meanings are you drawn to?



I tend to love ones that have ocean/water meaning.Like Dylan- Son of the Sea

and Tallulah - leaping waters (if I remember correctly)

Also, the name Arielle has an awesome meaning -Means "lion of God" in Hebre

A good friend of a friend and her partner had three miscarriages and when they finally had a son, they named him Nathan because it means "Gift from God" which he certainly was. I think there were more miscarriages after him too.

Lol gosh you are on late! Not that I can say anything. I really like the sea meanings too and also nature meanings. For boys I tend to like names that mean strong or something similar.What is your favoruite type of name meaning?
I'm very drawn to biblical names, especially those of angels, even though I am not a religious person. I suppose I just really like the sound of the names, not necessarily the meanings behind them :).
Strong for boys and love/happiness/peace for girls. :]
Personally, I'm favoring my own name quite a lot. Veronika - bringer of victory in Greek, at least I've been told so XD

I'm not a fan of meanings, but rather themes. Like nationalities (French, Celtic, Germanic, Italian, etc to honor my family), family names, and traditional names (which more or less fit into the family names).



I rarely look at the meaning of names, especially since many names have conflicting meanings depending on which site/book you read.
Flower names for girls and strong-sounding masculine meanings for boys.
I love the names Suri and Sarah because they mean "princess" :)
