Name Origins and Meanings..?

Hello~

I was just wondering if you could tell me the meanings/origins of these two names: Mariah %26amp; Coraline. Or at least tell me a website where I could find the origins/meanings? (An accurate one please because some of them are just awful)

Thanks~!|||Mariah

Origin: American

Meaning: Bitter, Or From The Sea

Pronunciation: Mah-REE-ah

Alternate spellings: Maria, Mariyah, Mareyah

Notes: Name is popular, was #92 on the 2007 popular name list / was popularized by singer Mariah Carey

The name Maria (without H) has a very large history, and many origins (see link below)

Coraline:

Origin: American

Meaning: Heart, Maiden

Meaning #2: It is a variant of Coral, which means a 'semiprecious natural sea growth'

Pronunciation: Co-rah-line

Alternate spellings: Coralyn, Coralline

Notes: It might have been a combination of Cora and Caroline

Isn't very popular.

Hope I helped :)|||Mariah

Additional info:

The pronunciation of our modern "Mariah" was actually a common pronunciation of the name "Maria" in nineteenth-century England. This alternate spelling has retained the nineteenth-century pronunciation. The "h" was probably added to appear more Biblical, just as the name "Sara" became "Sarah."
