Ok... I think most of them don't have much meaning but here I go...



Mr. Jones - Orwell's neighbour was called Mr. Jones and he didn't like him very much.



Napoleon - Napoleon represented Stalin. Stalin was similar to Napoleon Bonaparte of France. Napoleon Bonaparte was seen as a hero of the revolution and soon became in power in France during the French Revolution. Napoleon was a dictator, but like Stalin was well welcomed by the citizens.



Snowball - Napoleon was a pig that is dark in color. Snowball (note: snow) but mean that Snowball was somewhat light in color. In symbolism, light usually represents "good" while dark (Napoleon) represents "evil".



Boxer - able to endure hardship and pain, like a boxer. Not a quitter.



Squealer - squeal is a sound that is used to represent the communication of pigs. In other words, Squealer represented the pigs in communication (propaganda).

I read Animal Farm for fun. I think that school essays can take away the enjoyment about of reading something. I did not think of Animal Farm in literary alliterations but I would assume that Napoleon might refer to the leader and Snowball might refer to something that falls down and crashes and rolls and Squealer might allude to a complainer.
