Is there an online name translator for turning descriptive words into names?
Hi, i'm trying to choose a name for my new dog (haven't got him yet). I was wondering if there was anything online that could match words to suitable names. I know that you can find the meanings of names online but I wondered if there was anything that did this the other way round, i.e you type a word in such as "serious" and you get the name "Ernest" come up.
can anyone help with this?
Thanks,
Charlotte|||How strange that no-one has answered this question! The quick answer is "no, there isn't, at least not as far as I know". The slightly longer answer is, you can use the search tools on the internet to do this. Use a google advanced search, for instance - type "name finder" and "serious" in the box which says "search for sites containing all these words". If the results give you the option to view a "cache copy" then click on that - that highlights where the words you searched for appear in the document, like a fluorescent marker pen. That is very useful if the document is 100 pages long! It is well worth practising these internet search skills. I reckon a good half of the questions people ask on here can be answered by using search tools and good judgement.

Name Origins and Meanings..?
Hello~
I was just wondering if you could tell me the meanings/origins of these two names: Mariah %26amp; Coraline. Or at least tell me a website where I could find the origins/meanings? (An accurate one please because some of them are just awful)
Thanks~!|||Mariah

Meaning: Bitter, Or From The Sea
Pronunciation: Mah-REE-ah
Alternate spellings: Maria, Mariyah, Mareyah
Notes: Name is popular, was #92 on the 2007 popular name list / was popularized by singer Mariah Carey

Origin: American
Meaning: Heart, Maiden
Meaning #2: It is a variant of Coral, which means a 'semiprecious natural sea growth'
Pronunciation: Co-rah-line

Isn't very popular.
Hope I helped :)|||Mariah

What is a male name meaning evil/mean/cruel?
I'm writing a story and I'm trying to think of a name for my culprit. I tried looking under 'baby name meanings' etc, but no luck. Any ideas are appreciated. Thanks!!|||I'm a writer to and when I did some research these are the names I came up with:
Ryu - Void
Akuji- Dead %26amp; awake
Keres- Evil Spirits
Azazek - angel of death
Ratri - night
Seth - dazed in darkness (I'm not 100 % sure on this one)
Damon - To kill
Draven - The crow
Aeron - Slaughter
Blaike - Light and Dark
Sero- forgotten
Nico - Son of the dark
Kuro - Black
Kierra - Small dark one
Kurai - Dark
Now it's true that none of these mean 'Evil' exactly but they have meanings that are related or are associated with something evil/dark.
I hope this helps some and good luck with your book! :)|||Ahriman: middle persian meaning devil or evil spirit
Apep: egyptian for personification of evil
Diabolos: greek for devil
Dracul: romanian for devil
Lamia: latin for vampire
Seth/Sethos: greek god of chaos

Apollyon: the destroyer
samael/samil: angel of death
Ashi: japanese for evil
Kuro: japanese for dark
Malum: latin for evil
Haine: french for hatred

Well there's quite a few ideas and most mean something close to evil. You could always try making one up as well that uses combinations of names, just sounds evil, or uses latin (or whatever language) to come up with your own meaning by combining words. Good luck with your story!|||I'm afraid I wasn't able to find anything terribly exciting, but I did come across this one website. Sorry!

If you scroll down, or use CTRL+F and search for 'cruel,' there is a section closer to the end of the page called "Asian Villain Names" - that had a few that translated as cruel. Additionally, maybe try a general translating page and see if you can't warp a translation for the word cruel?
In example, according to http://www.freetranslation.com the word cruel in English translates to "Wreed" in Dutch. As a mere example, a name like Wyred or something of that sort.

Have you ever known caucasian people to give their daughter a Japanese first Name or middle?
since the names have meanings i was wondering if you know of anyone who has done that?Have you ever known caucasian people to give their daughter a Japanese first Name or middle?
We have a family friend that has a daughter named Suki Elizabeth. She has blonde hair and blue eyes. Her family is german/french, they don't have any connection to the Japanese culture or anything but they just loved the name and meaning. If I didn't know her and saw her name on paper or heard someone calling it out I would automatically think of an Asian girl.
I would do it as long as you loved the name. I mean not everyone boy named Connor is Irish or every Cohen is really Jewish. I don't think it should matter and personally I don't think you should be stereotyped based on your names. Like how some people automatically assume Preston and Ashley are stuck up and Peter is a nerd. I think the name becomes the person not the other way around.
My dad's friend was given John as a first name... but his middle name was Kamehameha (no joke) because his parents were in the military and he was conceived in Hawaii. Not Japanese (or a daughter) but it's close. It's not out of the question.
If someone were to give their daughter a Japanese name I would just make sure it's not TOO foreign... like, I wouldn't want a white girl named Haruhi to be made fun of in a class full of Maddies and Ashleys. Something like Mei would be pretty and still keep the Japanese spirit without being too in-your-face about it. But hey, if a name fits someone it fits.Have you ever known caucasian people to give their daughter a Japanese first Name or middle?
Personally, no. I do know one couple that decided to give their daughter a foreign name though. One little mixup though. They gave her a boy's name.
Poor kid. It wasn't THAT much of a foreign name either, the country they gave it from is like a 3 hour drive away so that's not fun.Have you ever known caucasian people to give their daughter a Japanese first Name or middle?
No personally I haven't known one but these days you can name your baby whatever you like and it will be accepted. Hey look at the people in Hollywood.
nope.

My middle name is Rei, and I'm about as white as white gets (English and Swedish, with some German, Irish, and Scottish thrown in). It means polite/well-behaved. XD
no you see the Japanese are really robots waiting to invade Taiwan
One of my sister's friends name is Yukimi, and she is VERY white.
yes dear,just google it.

Is there any symbolic meanings attached to the name Rinehart in Ellison's 'Invisible Man'?
Not HG Wells' 'The Invisible Man'Is there any symbolic meanings attached to the name Rinehart in Ellison's 'Invisible Man'?
As his name suggests, Rinehart is both “rind” and “heart”; that is, he is a whole human being who doesn’t need others to validate his existence. When the narrator finally removes his metaphorical blindfold and stops seeing his reflection in the eyes of others, he becomes Rinehart and regains his sense of self.

What kind of germanic name would be good for a character who is a consummate liar?
I always like my character's names to have meanings to them, and I have a character that I'm developing that is a consummate liar basically someone who lies without effort and is incredibly good at it. I've look through some german names for boys( the character is male) but most mean good or protector.
So I was wondering if you guys knew any name that would fit that type of person. What kind of germanic name would be good for a character who is a consummate liar?
Just give him a name you like, I'm sure his parents didn't know that he would grow up to be a liar and picked a nice name for him.
Don't go about choosing character names based on their character. That's very unrealistic. What kind of germanic name would be good for a character who is a consummate liar?

What's a guy's name for my story that means 'trickster' or 'sneak'?
It should be for a medieval type of fantasy world for my fantasy adventure romance story. I searched on google but didn't come up with much. If you guys know of any websites for names with meanings like that, I'd also appreciate a link to that. Many thanks in advance! What's a guy's name for my story that means 'trickster' or 'sneak'?
You'll want a thesaurus.
Put in one of those words, you'll get a list.
You can try translating it to another language, or doing a play on one of the words.
It's cheap, not always efficient but it can work if you're doing a full 'fantasy' and not based on a specific era.
It's what I do when I need to figure out a name for an object or character.
It'll take you some work but this way you can spend your time to find something you exactly want or like.

What is origin of the woman's name Altiona?
I know there are women with name Altiona in Russia, Bulgaria, Albania, Turkey today. And about 100 years ago in Serbia, Macedonia, too. So what's origin of Altiona name? Or do anyone knows something more about that name (meanings, etymology, etc)? What is origin of the woman's name Altiona?
I'm not sure but it could be a variant of Althaea (Greek name).
Althaea means "healer".
It is also a character from Greek mythology, sister of Leda (therefore aunt of Helen of Troy, Leda's daughter).
In botany, Althaea is a genus of perennial herbs native to Europe and western Asia which includes the marshmallow plant.
There is a german city named Altiona? I connect Altiona more with countries like Germany,Denmark,Norway...It doesn't sound Easter European or Balkanik maybe it is used there but i think it has roots more in the northern european countriesWhat is origin of the woman's name Altiona?
I don't think this name is from Eastern Europe and I don't think it's Turkish either.
Edit: It's probably somewhere from central or northern Europe. I know a girl who's name is Aldona and she's from Lithuania. What is origin of the woman's name Altiona?
There is no Russian women with this name (At least I have NEVER heard this name before i read your question).
Sounds like an Albanian name

What is the name of the term for when a word has two meanings?
Polysemy refers to cases where a lexeme (word) has more than one meaning. For example a chip can refer to a piece of wood, food, or electronic circuit: we say that the word "chip" has several different meanings in English, which are all related ("action" or "paper" are other examples of polysemous words).
Homonymy refers to cases where two (or more) different words have the same sounds. For example the word "bank" can mean a financial institution or an area of ground: these are two different words in English). Homonymous words can be either homophones = same sounds, but different spellings (ex.: I/eye; bear/bare) or homographs = same sounds and same spelling (ex bank/bank; file/file)What is the name of the term for when a word has two meanings?

pleural
Its called a Homonym - words that sound alike, or are spelled alike, but mean different things, such as too and two.
When a word is spelled the same way but has different meanings depending upon the context in which it is used, it is referred to as a 'homograph'.
Examples include 'hail' - hardened rain and 'hail' - praise; or 'fair' - a celebration and 'fair' - even or consistent.

I think you are referring to the term called a "Connotation" .. When one says a word is connotative, he/she means that it means more than one straightaway comprehension. If a word bears a lot of meanings, it is referred to as a "Multiple Connotation". Hope My answer helps to a certain degree and is relevant to your query. Good Luck !
double entendre....double intention or doubly intended, i.e. two meanings meant
could also be pun, since these work on the basis of two different meanings, especially if contradictory, being simultaneously understood
It's a homonym.
This covers both words that are spelled the same (homographs) and words that sound the same (homophones).
In english, the french term 'double-entendre' has a fairly specific meaning and is used when a rude meaning has sprung up around an otherwise innocuous word, such as hump, shag, root or pork.

I thought you might mean "double entendre" - from French, but now absorbed totally into English. But just in case that's not what you meant, I went to http://thesaurus.reference.com/browse/do鈥?/a>

First -from the name of the tree
Middle-form of Maria, the meaning is not known for certain, but there are several theories including "sea of bitterness", "rebelliousness", and "wished for child". However it was most likely originally an Egyptian name, perhaps derived in part from mry "beloved" or mr "love".

Aliteration - its when each word in a sentence starts with the same letter e.g.
Fee Fi Fo Fum (i smell the blood of an englishmen)
(Sorry for the crappy example.)
Rhetorical question-one that needs no answer as it's obvious-eg Do you want to die in a car crash? (obvious answer.....NO!) Used in persuasive writing
List of three for emphasis: Do it well, do it fast do it now
Use of superlatives: This is the best drink/this is the worst school
Hyperbole: gross exaggeration
Emotive language to make the reader feel: These homeless, hungry babies are destitute.
Use of pronouns to identify the reader/writer realtionship: We all feel/surely you can see
Flattery:get the audience on your side-As I am sure your intelligence will tell you
And finally-good old OPINION as FACT: presenting beliefs as though they are factual truths: This is obviously the worst idea of course/ this type of holiday is excellent for your health

Baby name meaning,is it really that important?
I know a guy named Leroy. Now the meaning of Leroy is "king" but he is hardly a king.In fact he never completed high school,he failed ninth grade two times and then just dropped out.I don't even think he ever completed his education. Therefore i don't think name meanings effect your child's life that much.
Don't get me wrong,it is a good idea to have a nice or positive name meaning but i don't think it will change the course of a life.Baby name meaning,is it really that important?
name meaning doesnt matter. my dads name has a beautiful meaning and he is not a beautiful person. at all. no effect whatsoever
No its not, pick a name that wont sound stupid and a name that you like and you should have no problems!Baby name meaning,is it really that important?
it will definitly not. There was a fotball player whose last name was weak, he wasnt weak but he still went and changed his last name to strong.Baby name meaning,is it really that important?
no, why would it be?
It's not important to me its just a conversation started... i hate when i be like oh thats a nice names and they're like yeah it mean the shining light...i'm thinking like what was yo mama smokin...ppl be thinking of anything
lol no baby names are just for fun ^^ those name meaning are back from middle ages which was thousands of years and years ago. they made it up ^^ leroy is a cute name though
I think it has to do more with WHY someone is naming someone something. His mom may have named him Leroy because she liked the name and did not even know the meaning. Versus someone who knows the meaning, and treats their son like a "king" giving him the best of everything, and expecting the best from him.
I didn't decide on my son's name until after he was born. The other two I named before. I named him Jaron (which means to sing) because when I looked in his eyes, the joy I felt made me feel like singing. What is remarkable, is that he is the ONLY person in our family with an amazing singing voice!
I guess I think of it as calling someone what they're name means everytime... for instance when someone says Jordan, what they are really saying is "river of life", or Sarah which means princess or royalty. I definitely wouldn't name my child that meant something harmful or terrible, because in my eyes everytime their name is being called, they are being called what their name means. Kinda complex I guess.
I think that some parents should have to live with the names they inflict on their kids. I met a guy named Orangejello. I went to college with a girl named Kitty.
Give your kids names that you like but PLEASE keep them "normal".
you are right.. I still like to make sure I choose a positive name and with the millions of baby names out there you can find a unique name and still one that doesn't mean ''squit eyed or '' Lame'' the name Claudia sounds nice but I wouldn't consider it because it means ''lame one..'' I am sure lots of Claudias are beautiful but why tempt fate by giving the child a bad start with a name that has a negative meaning when so many nice names are there to choose from.. because if I was the child.. when older I would want to look up my name and if it had a negative meaning I don't know if I would forgive my parents.. when they could have chosen with a bit more care and forethought.... because there is bound to be something that is unique, nice, and positive....xxxx
Really parents think picking a name with a good meaning will help encourage a child but that isn't really the case. Some kids though do seem to fit their names.
Names have meanings because of the words they're rooted in. Did you know that Sharon, Sarah and Shara all have the same meaning?
Name meanings will not dictate how your life goes. Neither will your astrological sign, your numerology, your palmistry, your symmetry, or any other method of divination out there. But it's fun. Why rain on people's parades?
The name itself and the so-called attached meaning will not define someone's life nor will it help make it better or worse. However to some people, naming their child a particular name holds personal value. That in itself is a different kind of importance. Aside from that, like others have said, as long as you don't name your kid something with a negative outlook such as a lame name, a name people could make fun of, or some other variation of such a name, then you are fine.
While the name meaning (pre-defined definition) holds no true course for a person's outcome in life, some people like to have a good meaning attached to their name. Others could care less. As parents, I am sure some people feel that it is important to give their kids a good name with a good meaning, sometimes if only to make themselves feel better about the name choice.
Who said that it does???
No, it's not important.
Just don't pick a stupid-sounding/looking name!
in a way i think it is important!
my friends name is felicity...the meaning is happiness.
this is a true story
her mother died of cancer when she was 12 and then a year later her father died of meningococal. she was sad as you would be, but she kept looking on the bright side, she was thinking about what her parents would want.
she is now one of the happiest people i know!

Maybe his parents thought he would suceed in life. I'm nameing my child Trinity Isabella. Sounds like a queen and Trinity stands the Tri-force of the game Zelda. Wisdom, Courage, and Power. A babys name is as important as you make it to be. No one can pick the perfect name and be 100% that the child will suit the name. It's all on luck. Picking a name for a baby is a fun game for the parents. But remember that the child will be stuck with that name forever till they change it when they get older.
This is how i look at it:
If the name has a nice meaning then bring attention to it. If it don't, then just act like you dont care about the meanings. The name i child has wont make them a certain way. The parents probably just liked the name Leroy AND realised it has a cool meaning. But some names are great but have sucky meanings, so just neever talk about them meaning or anything, never bring it up, pretend it dont matetr, lol.
Meanings for Names mean nothing.
A name is a name and when you look at the baby, it either fits or it doesn't.
No name meaning don't change the person but still... You don't want I name that means something horrible.

No name meaning don't change the person but still... You don't want I name that means something horrible.
What is your favoruite type of name meaning?
What name meanings are you drawn to?
I tend to love ones that have ocean/water meaning.Like Dylan- Son of the Sea
and Tallulah - leaping waters (if I remember correctly)
Also, the name Arielle has an awesome meaning -Means "lion of God" in Hebre
Anyhoo, will read all of the answers in the morning (It's 12:42 am here lol)
Thanks for all answers :)What is your favoruite type of name meaning?
I love names that have strong meanings.

Meanings that the child will be proud of. I love the name Cameron, but I'm not sure if I should use it since it means "bent nose".
hmm, where do you live? I'm guessing Africa or Northern Europe....
I love the meaning of Arielle, you're right, it is awesome!
A good friend of a friend and her partner had three miscarriages and when they finally had a son, they named him Nathan because it means "Gift from God" which he certainly was. I think there were more miscarriages after him too.
David- Hebrew for BelovedWhat is your favoruite type of name meaning?
Lol gosh you are on late! Not that I can say anything. I really like the sea meanings too and also nature meanings. For boys I tend to like names that mean strong or something similar. What is your favoruite type of name meaning?
I'm very drawn to biblical names, especially those of angels, even though I am not a religious person. I suppose I just really like the sound of the names, not necessarily the meanings behind them :).
Strong for boys and love/happiness/peace for girls. :]
Personally, I'm favoring my own name quite a lot. Veronika - bringer of victory in Greek, at least I've been told so XD
Girls - love/happiness/peace etc
Boys - strong/Biblical/powerful etc
I'm not a fan of meanings, but rather themes. Like nationalities (French, Celtic, Germanic, Italian, etc to honor my family), family names, and traditional names (which more or less fit into the family names).
I rarely look at the meaning of names, especially since many names have conflicting meanings depending on which site/book you read.
Flower names for girls and strong-sounding masculine meanings for boys.
I love the names Suri and Sarah because they mean "princess" :)top makeup

What are the meanings behind the names "jonas & gabriel"? From the book The Giver by Lois Lowry?
I have to research the meanings behind the names "jonas %26amp; the giver" and explain in detail why lowry chose to name her characters as she did. Use direct examples %26amp; quotes. What are the meanings behind the names "jonas %26amp; gabriel"? From the book The Giver by Lois Lowry?
It's been too long since I've read The Giver. Jonas and Gabriel might be biblical references. The angel Gabriel and then Jonah and the whale (Jonah is sometimes referred to as Jonas).

Someone please explain Riedell Figure skate name meanings?
So I've been searching for beginner/recreational figure skates under $100. I went to Riedell's website and under that I found 110, 115, and 121 RS, with the lowest number being the cheapest and lowest quality to the highest being the most expensive and highest quality.
Would be right to assume that something like white ribbon 112 would be slightly better than 110 RS? It is, after all, just a little bit more expensive. From what I've heard in figure skates, what you pay is what you get? Should I trust this completely?
Like the more expensive a skate from the same brand, the better it will be. Better as in...I'm not exactly sure, the ankle support, stuff like that? As you can tell I don't know much about it, I mean I want to learn how to ice skate, but only recreationally, not taking lessons. Doesn't mean all I'll do is see how fast I can skate though :)
It's just all the numbers are confusing me, what do you recommend? Is the skate for $99 the best? It is worth it, for me, to pay so much more? I've only worn rentals in the past. I'm guessing any skate I buy will feel better than rentals.
The more insight the better, thanks to everyone who reads the looonnng question :)
Oh, and also, if you can, please confirm that having a foot length of 9 1/2 inches, I should get lady's size 7? My normal running shoe size is 8, and I know I can fit into a 7 1/2 running shoe.Someone please explain Riedell Figure skate name meanings?
I think they just wanted to update their line, so they renamed their skate models. The model numbers do indicate the skate quality - the higher the number, the higher the quality. They're still essentially the same skates, although they are offering new blades on some of the new models. Haven't seen them yet, so I can't say if they cheapened or improved the blades.
The GR4 is a bottom-of-the-line blade with open weld joints that rust, so I would stay away from it and any skate it's attached to because the bottom is PVC, not leather.
You can assume that the price indicates the quality. Riedell also offers the option of upgrading the blades, which is always a good idea once your skating progresses to one-foot turns, spins and jumps.
Since you're an adult size, I would recommend getting a sturdier boot than the cheaper models.
You're not going to outgrow it, but adults tend to break down skates. Buy cheap, buy twice in this case.
I'd also recommend getting a skate with a leather upper and sole. Adults sometimes need blade alignment changes to deal with pronation or supination. Most pro shops won't adjust a blade on a PVC-bottomed skate. The all-leather skates can also be heat-molded to fit better/break in faster, and adjustments can be made for tight spots or corns/bunions.
Under the old models, the Blue Ribbon with the PVC outsole is just okay, but anything from the Medallion series is much better, especially if you can ugrade the blades. The good news is that they're all on sale right now for good prices. Look for a Bronze, Silver or Gold Medallion skate.
In the new models, the 121 RS is the equivalent of the Blue Ribbon (with the PVC outsole). It's okay, nothing great.
I'd look more towards the 133 RS or 255 TS. The Quest Onyx blade is okay for beginning freestyle. It's well-made with no seams that can rust. The blade's got a decent rocker profile and a good-sized toerake for jumps. It should hold its sharpenings well if you use rubber guards when walking around.
For a beginner, I don't think that very expensive boots are necessary, especially if your feet are growing still. All of Riedell boots are great, so whatever you get it's of high quality. I would suggest the least expensive because you don't need to do crazy jumps/spins right now. As long as they have some ankle support and fit to your foot they're great. Oh, and they're MUCH better than any rentals you can find. :)
There is a difference, but not a huge one, between the models you said so get the least expensive one.
btw normally your skate size will be smaller than your regular shoes size. :PSomeone please explain Riedell Figure skate name meanings?
I would suggest going to a local pro shop or store that has knowledge in skates. That way you can compare the models in your hands. It will give you a better idea of the differences between the skates and whether its worth paying the extra $ or not. I looked at the boots you mentioned and it seems that they are for the most part pretty similar. The 121 just seems to have more padding and are more geared toward comfort. Paying the extra for that is probably not necessary. Therefore either the 115 or 110 would be good. Riedell is a good brand for beginners so I'm sure that you'll find a good skate from them. Going to the store will also allow you to try the skates on and see the size for sure. It may be worth travelling a little bit in order to get the skates.
Good luck! and I hope I helped

My best friend's name meanings mean "Friend Reborn"?
It's so true. Especially now. She is such a friend reborn. She gave all she could to her family and friends, almost died, narrowly escaping death. And now she has been re energized only much wiser.
She immediately, even though her wounds are still fresh, began helping people all around her like she's posses ed.
A lot of people don't like it. It disturbs them that somebody could do such a thing and they think the worst. It bothered me too until I realized what she was doing; gone into overdrive bringing people back together. This is nothing new for her, she's always done that. But now she has put her own interests aside to do it full time.
She mentioned God, which is something new coming from her.

Question for people who don't care about name meanings?
If you had 2 names you loved equally, and couldn't choose which one you think sounds better, would you then turn to the meaning?
The meaning of names doesn't matter to me atall, however, for example, 2 names I love equally are Cameron and Declan, Cameron means crooked nose, whereas Declan means full of goodness. If I was actually having a boy, I think this would maybe sway it for me, if I liked the sounds the same, Declan has a much nicer meaning
Would this be the case with you? Or would it not help you choose atall? Do you have any examples of 2 names you like that are similar to this?Question for people who don't care about name meanings?
That is a good point. I also do not care about the meaning of names, but I am also stuck on three girl names I equally love. Alexis which means Defender Of The People, Sophia which means Wisdom and Madelyn which means woman from Magdala. Now I have something to think about.
It would almost absolutely be the case with me. Let me think ... which names would I have to choose between? ...
Oh, I know: Adelaide and June (I know, two markedly different names, but I like them both). June, of course, means "the sixth month of the year." Adelaide, on the other hand, means "noble kind; of the noble sort." I think I might just choose June in this case. I love the sixth month, but that is not why I like the name.Question for people who don't care about name meanings?
I would turn to the meaning.
I like Cameron better but i don't like the meaning.
Declan isn't a very common name and it has a nice meaning so i would go with that name.
I like Aiden; it means little fire.
I like Brody more but it means a Scottish castle.
Good luck(:Question for people who don't care about name meanings?
Yes definitely. But modern "meanings" concern me more, for example I really like the names Xanthe and Arcadia but I will never use them because one is the name of a psoriasis drug and the other is the name of a female viagra type drug. I think associations such as these are more of an issue than the original meanings.
I would definitely use Declan.
Yes, this actually was a big factor for me. I was trying to choose between Connor and Finley. Connor means Hound, and Finley means "Light-Haired courageous one"
We choose Finley because all of my kids have very blonde hair.

What are some meanings that the name Joe and Ella share?
Joe means Jehovah increases. Biblical: the son of Jacob who, sold by his brothers into slavery, rose to become a supreme power in Egypt. Also Jesus' earthly father, a carpenter. Jos茅 (see Jose) (hoh-ZAY) is a Spanish form. See also Joe. Actors Josef Sommer, Joseph Fiennes; writers Joseph Conrad, Joseph Wambaugh; revolutionary Che Guevara; painter Joseph M. W. Turner.
The girl's name Ella \e(l)-la\ is pronounced EL-ah. It is of Old German origin, and its meaning is "other, foreign". Also possibly means "entire" or (Hebrew) "goddess". Also short form of Alice, Eleanor, Ellen and Elvira. Elle (el) is a variant made familiar by supermodel Elle MacPherson. Singer Ella Fitzgerald.
In short they don't mean the same they're just both popular and possibly based in Hebrew

Domain name meanings?
Ok I need some help understanding this?
Ok here is my hosts features page:
http://www.hostmonster.com/hosting-featu鈥?/a>
As you can see they have unlimited domains, add-on domains etc and I need to know what that means?
Does having unlimited add on domains mean If my domain is example.com I can add another domain like sample.com for free?
Or does that mean if I had sample.com registered like at 1and1.com I could put it with my hosting account and share the disk space and bandwidth with example.com for free?
I really need help with this?!
And if you only want to answer the first part thats fine but could somone give a link that explains what a:
add-on domain
parked domain
sub domain
and what it means to have unlimited domain mean?
Thanks!Domain name meanings?
Do not be so happy with unlimited domains, the moment traffic increases hostmonster might ask you to upgrade web hosting package. You also check review of top ten web hosting service providers at website like http://aplis.net/ .Domain name meanings?
Don't confuse yourself. It means you can host unlimited domains on 1 account!
In other words, you can buy other domains from host monster, or other sites like 1and1, godaddy... and host all of them by your account with Host Monster. You don't need to pay any new payment for that. You can use your current disc space and bandwidth for all them together.
At present I own 4 different websites which I host them by my account with hostmonster. They have a really great offer for hosting %26amp; I have used them for over 3 yrs now, and have never had a single problem with them.

What are some Korean GIRL names and meanings?
Also how you spell it in Korean too please.
I need to know because I am going to be in a Korean dance group and I need a good name. What are some Korean GIRL names and meanings?
Naji
Sooli
Geurim
Yoonhye
Nahyun
Jinri
Jaerim
lol i don't know what are their meanings.
Well, your name here is Ann, so we could start with that.
"?", or "Ahn," would be the Korean spelling of Ann, but that looks pretty plain. So, we can put in variations. :)
"??" is "Ahn-na," or the Korean spelling of "Anna," except pronounced more phonetically.
"??" would be "Jo-ahn," or "Joanne."
"???" is "Jo-ahn-na," or "Joanna," which kinda sounds cute.
I think that you could go with a Koreanized version of any English name, if you're not Korean. I think that would give a better sense of who you are and make you look more "different." :)
Hope this helps! :DWhat are some Korean GIRL names and meanings?
Sooyoung (??) [soo,young]- swim
Taeyeon (??) - [teh,yun] calm

Can someone suggest to me some pretty female English names and their meanings that are uncommon?
I am working on a story, and I want a special name for my main character, but I can't seem to find what I am looking for. If anyone can suggest to me some beautiful, female, English names that are uncommon, along with their meanings, I would really appreciate it. Thank you. :)Can someone suggest to me some pretty female English names and their meanings that are uncommon?
One of my favorites is Wilhelmina / Williamina. In either spelling, it means "Protectoress of the Realm".
Also, Gwendolyn is pretty cool and has a bunch of possible meanings. It happens to be an alternative name for Guinevere in one of the older versions of the Arthur legends. I've pasted the wikipedia page for it as my source so you can go check the various potential meanings. Since "Gwen" and "Dolyn" each have several possible meanings, you end up with a bunch of different possible combinations.
Good luck on your story! Can someone suggest to me some pretty female English names and their meanings that are uncommon?

We were all heartbroken, we went to the vet again but he said there was nothing he could do because, if he operated again she would live for a couple more months and then just develope some more tumors. She had cancer all over her body. So we decided the best choice was to put her down. I really miss her. I hope you decide to name her Leah, that lovable golden retreiver who gave us so much love. Please, please, nothing like "Goldie"!
Be original.
Try thinking of some celebrities you like that are the same gender of your dog, and see if any of their names would fit your dog.
Say, for instance, you like Alanis Morissette. Even if your dog's personality is not at all reminiscent of Alanis Morissette's, you may find that "Alanis" fits your dog well.

What is your favorite meaning for a name (despite the name)?
I love the meaning for my name, it's pearl of the sea but I HATE my name (Greta) what is your favorite meaning for a name and if you want mention what your name means?
BQ 1: Do name meanings have a lot of impact on the name you choose for a child? What is your favorite meaning for a name (despite the name)?
I love the meaning of the Persian name Zuleika - "brilliant beauty". Don't really love the name itself that much.
BQ: It does have some influence - I might reject a name that had a particularly nasty meaning, like "poison" or something, but I wouldn't pick a name just because it had a great meaning.
Raziel (Raw-zee-uhl) means Keeper Of God's Secrets, he's one of my favorite angels in the Book Of Enoch. Not that I'm religious, I just love reading that stuff, it's so strange.
But it would get mispronounced a lot and I'm not very fond of how it sounds...
My name is Jennifer Michelle Bailey. Jennifer means Fair One/White Wave, Michelle means Who Is Like God, and Bailey is my last name and it means Bailiff (Though the first name Bailey means A Field Of Berries).
BQ: It's a bonus if a name has a nice meaning, and I may throw out a name if the meaning is too terrible, but other wise I don't think about it too much. What is your favorite meaning for a name (despite the name)?
Boy: "Redeemer" - Ransome. Love the name and the meaning.
Girl: "Father's joy" - Abigail. Like the meaning, not too keen on the name.
BQ 1: They don't have any impact on my favourite names. I like names because of their appearance, sound and sometimes their family connection. I am interested in knowing the meanings of the names I like, and it's good when they have a good meaning, but it doesn't really impact my liking for them. Maybe if a name I liked had a hideous meaning I wouldn't like it so much anymore, but so far none have! What is your favorite meaning for a name (despite the name)?
I love the meaning of your name :)
My favorite meaning for a name is Laila - dark-haired beauty
My name means boundless...I kind of like it!
BQ: Not so much. I take more consideration into how well it sounds. However, a nice meaning is an added bonus! :)
My favorite meaning is something to do with bringing brightness back or something like that. I can only think of one name. Lucifer. I do like this name but many people disapprove even though it's meaning is "light bearer"
=]
Not crazy about the name "Dorothy" but it means "Gift from God" so the meaning is awesome ;-)
